Name: J.Wesley Maxx

Location: Central Florida, USA

Birthdate: November 4th, 1968

Education: I attended Cosumnes River College in Sacramento California. I maintained a GPA from 3.8 to 4.0. My second semester I was awarded the “Area of Excellence Award” and I also received a High Honors mention during my time in attendance.

The majority of my classes consisted of Sculpture, Pottery and Intaglio Printing.

As a side note: I took just one week of Digital Art 101. I simply could not find the patience to sit there and try to learn Corel Paint. I swear, whoever was responsible for writing that software was a sadist! So you can see it’s a bit ironic that I even have a website showcasing my digital artwork.

Favorite Medium: Clay, clay and more clay! I love sculpture. I love to create vessels and naturalistic/organic forms from clay. I also love acrylic painting; I’m an abstract kinda guy when it comes to my subject matter.

The reason for me getting into digital art was because quite frankly I didn’t have the money or space to setup a ceramics/pottery studio. Besides I had this really expensive computer that I had tricked-out and needed to get some use out of.

Software used: XARA EXTREME 5, Magix Xtreme Photo Designer 7, ArtWeaver 0.5

Models/Images Used: I purchase stock photos from various sources. Sometimes I even purchase “content” from adult content producers, this saves me time, money and I don’t have to be bothered with dealing with models, etc…

Favorite Artists: I have a few; Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Robert Mapplethorpe, Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli, Rodin, Patrick Fillion, Glen Hanson, Kent, Michael Breyette, and there’s more, but forgive me because I forget their names.

I like all kinds of art and even arts & crafts! I know there are many art snobs who find the very sight of arts & crafts to be revolting, I say get the fuck over it. Most of these crafts people put just as much love, time and energy into their crafts as any so-called real artist or fine artist puts into their work.

Biggest Inspiration: My Mother and all those artists who came before me, struggling to gain some recognition. Just because you may be blessed with a talent, doesn’t mean anyone will ever appreciate what you have done.

I think the true sign of success is when you can afford to buy your art materials without having to choose between art paper and toilet paper.

I sincerely hope you enjoy my site and the artwork presented. Please feel free to rate and/or comment on my pieces.

Thanks – J. Maxx
